About 2022 saw Nathan win the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Award (narrative non-fiction) and come runner up in both the Darebin Mayor’s Writing Award and the Melton Short Story Writing Competition. 2022 also saw Nathan start West Preston’s Best Dance Band Gusto Gusto. A seven-piece instrumental dance music juggernaut, Gusto Gusto released their debut EP ‘Suitcase Cake’ with a national tour, a sold-out Melbourne launch and shows at Woodford Folk Festival and Cullulleraine Music Festival. As a singer songwriter, Nathan has toured internationally and nationally and performed at Yackandandah Folk Festival, Bendigo Blues Festival, Nimbin Roots Festival and Frankston Waterfront Festival. Borrowing from the folk, blues and bluegrass worlds, Nathan’s music is dark and rich, combining childhood stories of growing up Africa with a cynical take on modern life. Think Leonard Cohen meets Lloyd Cole, wrapped in a toe-tapping bluegrass band including double bass, mandolin and guitar. 2020 saw the launch of Nathan’s second album, The Hopeful Clutter. Recorded over 2019, this album is a collection of musings on the world as it was, tied together with a folk feel. Want to get in contact?
